Applications Chemist
Summary
Applications chemist supports global sales and distribution, marketing, and R &D of Quant instrument products. Strong focus on developing applications used in marketing and for winning customer orders, demonstrating products to customers, authoring technical papers and presentations, and providing technical support and service to customers and global sales.
Responsibilities:
Product support:
- Respond to requests for assistance from customers.
Pre-sales support:
- Perform demonstrations for customers as requested the sales manager.
- Run customer samples to help win CNLSD orders.
- Visit customers with the sales organization to provide technical support.
Post-sales support:
- Install Quant instrumentation and train operators in the use of the instrument(s).
- Provide validation services purchased by customers as needed.
- Provide problem-solving and trouble shooting assistance to customers, sales representatives, distributors, and international dealers.
Marketing support:
- Develop and run applications needed for marketing materials (papers, posters, seminars, advertisements, etc.) that promote Quant products and applications.
- Write and/or review marketing and product support literature, such as application notes.
- Promote products and/or applications through local/regional seminars.
- Staff Quant’s booth at regional/national trade shows and exhibitions.
- Provide information on competitors’ products and on market trends and activities that affect Quant’s current business or represent opportunities for new business by reviewing pertinent books, periodicals, competitive literature, and technical journals.
Product management:
- Provide feedback concerning product design, opportunities for product enhancement, new uses for products, new product ideas, product failures, and customer satisfaction issues to marketing and R & D.
- Develop and maintain a recording system following standard analytical procedures on both electronic and hard copy data storage.
Corporate technical training:
- Assist in the preparation, coordination, and execution of technical training programs for Quant employees and/or distributors in support of new product launches, local market business initiatives, and new hire training.
- Assist in the preparation, coordination, and execution of technical training programs for Quant customers.
Manufacturing and R&D Support:
- Test and/or troubleshoot Quant instrumentation and provide feedback to manufacturing and/or R&D.
Experience/skills required:
- Minimum of B.S. in Chemistry.
- Minimum of two years professional chromatography and analytical experience.
- Prior experience with HPLC is required.
- Sales support experience by way of training, workshop, technical presentations, and seminar involvement a plus.
- Must have well-developed technical/commercial writing skills.
- Good independent work, organizational, and communication skills required
- PC skills are essential
- Must be able to travel when required (30 %)
