Water Condensation Particle Counters
Quant Technologies LLC has developed a growing line of Water Condensation Particle Counters (WCPC) to measure the number concentration of submicrometer sized particles in air. These particle counters can detect particles from 2.5 to < 3000 ng quickly which make them ideal for a myriad of applications including indoor air quality measurements, environmental and atmospheric research, inhalation and exposure studies, and exhaust/exposure studies. These particle counters are marketed exlusively through TSI Incorporated: www.tsi.com
The Model 3781 Water-based Condensation Particle Counter (WCPC) can detect airborne particles down to 6 nm in diameter. Using single particle detection with live-time coincidence correction, the 3781 covers a wide particle concentration range up to 5x105 particles/cm3. It features low cost, small size and light weight and is an ideal choice for monitoring temporal and spatial variations of various environments with multiple units. It is well-suited for a wide range of applications, including indoor air-quality measurements, environmental monitoring, atmospheric and climate-change studies, and mobile aerosol studies.
The Model 3785 Water-based Condensation Particle Counter* uses water to enlarge particles for easy detection. The Model 3785 detects particles from 5 to >3000 nm. It provides a wide, dynamic, particle-concentration range. Featuring both a single-particle-counting mode with continuous, live-time coincidence correction and a photometric mode, this particle counter measures concentrations up to 107 particles/cm3 with high accuracy. It offers quick response and is compatible with our SMPS systems.
The Model 3786 Ultrafine Water-based Condensation Particle Counter (UWCPC) is designed primarily for researchers who are interested in airborne particles smaller than 20 nanometers. It detects particles down to 2.5 nm, and it has a high sample flow rate (0.3 L/min) for very good counting statistics.
Patented technology* enables this particle counter to use water as a condensing fluid to enlarge submicrometer particles so they can be detected easily. The Model 3786 also offers fast response, a sheath-air flow design that minimizes diffusion losses and produces a sharp lower cutpoint, and single particle counting with continuous, live-time coincidence correction. Particle concentration, total counts, or plots of concentration versus time can be displayed on the front panel. The Model 3786 is compatible with SMPS systems and TSI's Aerosol Instrument ManagerŪ software.
